Global Anthropogenic GHG Emissions by Gas

CO2 accounts for about 80% of total greenhouse gas emissions -- 57% from fossil fuel use and 20% from deforestation and other activities. Methane, primarily from agriculture, is the next largest category of emissions (14%).

Note: Different gases have different "global warming potentials." All figures here are expressed in CO2-equivalents.
